2025 progress report
This page reports on our progress towards our software and strategic plans for 2025, similar to what we did in 2024. This year, we have 3 main goals:
Technological: Reach 0% vanilla JavaScript code by the end of the year. This means existing code will need to be rewritten in TypeScript, Python, Kotlin or Rust.
Economical: Make Floofi self-sustainable thanks to donations. Our current operational costs are about 100€ per year, and you can donate to help reach that goal.
Qualitative: We want to deliver unique quality experiences this year, working on new fields and with new technologies we haven't had a chance to try yet.
For each project on this page, we will indicate its status:
"In research" means the project is currently being studied and has not started development to be released yet.
"In development" means the project is in development and will likely be released this year, although there may still be bugs at this stage.
"In testing" means the project has completed development and will release after it has received sufficient testing.
"Released" means the project has been publicly released and is available for public use.
"Cancelled" means the project has been cancelled before it could be completed, it could be postponed to a later year or cancelled entirely.
If you are interested in helping us with any of these projects, feel free to reach out to us.
Floofi Voice Generator discontinuation
Status: In research
Floofi Voice Generator initially started as a small project but it eventually grew in size, but didn't grow in popularity. Today, Floofi Voice Generator receives less than 1 single user per month, meaning the costs associated with hosting it are not worth the use.
We plan to discontinue the Floofi Voice Generator project and offer download links to models – on special request – for people who are interested in integrating Floofi Voice Generator's models into their own projects. Use of these models will come with a special license and non-disclosure agreements so that we can still make sure they are used in a safe and secure way.
Here are the currently available models we will be able to offer for download:
Ember Lumen, version 8 revision 2 (
fvg-el-8.2.pt
)GLaDOS, version 5 (
fvg-gl-5.0.pt
)Judy Hopps, version 1 (
fvg-jh-1.0.pt
)Misty Brightdawn, version 1 (
fvg-mb-1.0.pt
)Sunny Starscout, version 11 revision 2 (
fvg-ss-11.2.pt
)Wheatley, version 1 (
fvg-wh-1.0.pt
)
We may also be able to give you older models if you request them, although that is not guaranteed. We can also give you access to Floofi Voice Generator's content filter list, under special conditions.
Project Ix public release
Status: In research
Over the past few years, we have been quietly trying to develop a unique and entertaining experience for furry art enjoyers – including not safe for work –, and we may release it this year.
Project Ix (temporary name) is a collection of applications for furry art enjoyers to find, save and watch their favorite furry art quickly and easily.
We might also include mixed reality experiences as part of Project Ix, either at release or in a future update.
Project Bizbiz public release
Status: In research
Big tech companies have proven times and times again that they cannot be trusted. But what exactly makes them untrustworthy?
Project Bizbiz (temporary name) aims at providing you relevant and easy to understand information to tell if a company is trustworthy or not. This is similar to ToS;DR but with companies instead of services: Project Bizbiz would provide a rating for each company with details about what contributes to this rating.
Status monitor client rewrite
Status: In research
We are planning on rewriting the status monitor's client-side code to another language, most likely Rust, to make it more stable and fast, similar to what we already did with Floofi Music Library.
me.floo.fi redesign
Status: In research
The me.floo.fi website is currently very barebones and is planned to get a redesign later.
Continued systems and network architecture efforts
Finally, we will continue to work on at least one of our two major systems development projects, Russet (formerly BunnyOS) and Vixen, this year, expecting to release at least one of them by the end of the year.
Additionally, FloofiNet – our internal network infrastructure – will evolve to be more secure, more versatile and more useful.
