Equestria.dev is now Floofi

As of October 27th 2024, Equestria.dev is now known as Floofi Systems, and our new website is now available at https://floo.fi.

Our equestria.dev domain name now redirects to the corresponding floo.fi domains whenever possible. The decision to discontinue the old domain has not been taken yet and the equestria.dev domain will stay online for the time being.

Why?

"Equestria.dev" contains the word "Equestria", which really resonates only with people from within the brony fandom. We wanted to be more inclusive, and include furries with us, and so Floofi felt like a more inclusive (and professional-sounding) brand name.

Some of our services and projects were discontinued earlier this year in response to this decision, and our goal for the rest of the year is to maintain existing software.

What does this mean?

The quality of our software and services is unchanged (if anything, it will get better) and our general branding and design language has been reworked to better appeal to a wider audience.

Our Terms of Service, Disclaimers and Privacy Policy have been updated. In essence:

  • only users who are 15+ (or their legal contracting age, if higher) and not in a restricted location (at the administrators' sole discretion) are allowed;

  • only activity that follows the laws in France, doesn't affect other users negatively (e.g. by causing denial of service), doesn't violate anyone's intellectual property and doesn't mislead users (e.g. by spreading misinformation) is allowed;

  • there is no legal uptime, maintenance and maintainability guarantee, services may be discontinued or modified at any time, and accounts can be removed at any time arbitrarily (inactive or not);

  • your IP address is collected for legal compliance, and some anonymous statistics may be collected as well; when you create a Floofi ID, your name and email address (and your account ID if you log in with a third-party service) is also collected and only used to provide you with service;

  • we only use data to provide required service, communicate with you when needed, to comply with the law and for analytics, data aggregation and quality improvements;

  • as always, we take the necessary measures to give you controls over your data to delete or access it at any time, we keep it secure on our servers, and we don't send out any marketing or newsletter communications;

  • our software is still released under the GNU AGPLv3 license and comes without any warranty; and our services are hosted within the EU in either France (managed by Floofi), Ireland (managed by Microsoft) or the Netherlands (managed by Scaleway), except for serverless applications that use the closest available server;

  • and finally, we still keep a warrant canary updated every week

Floofi User Experience

With a new branding comes a new design language. For the first time ever, we unified the user interface across all of our websites to provide you with a truly unified experience.

Websites that previously used the Bootstrap library and style now use 100% in-house code, improving Floofi's independence and flexibility.

Floofi ID

Previously an Equestria.dev Account, your new Floofi ID gives you access to all the services that Floofi can provide. If you previously had an Equestria.dev Account, it has automatically been transferred to a Floofi ID and you can use the same credentials to log in.

As always, if you are having issues with your account, you should contact us so we can try to fix it.

Floofi Voice Generator

Sunny Starbot is now Floofi Voice Generator, and includes more AI models, in a similar fashion as the now-defunct 15.ai. The old Sunny Starscout model obviously still remains, but we have also added:

  • Misty Brightdawn (from My Little Pony)

  • Ember Lumen (from Elemental)

  • Judy Hopps (from Zootopia)

  • GLaDOS (from Portal 2)

  • Wheatley (from Portal 2)

If you would like to see more models, we are definitely open to suggestions and you should feel free to contact us if you have ideas.

Additionally, the entire infrastructure surrounding Floofi Voice Generator has been reworked: the server code is now written in Kotlin and is more stable and more performant, while the client now runs on Vercel to make it easier to access.

The Floofi Voice Generator/Sunny Starbot API version 1 has been discontinued as we had to make a few architectural changes that affected the API. Please check the updated docs and migrate your applications if needed.

Floofi Shopping List

Wishing Star is now Floofi Shopping List and is now a fully featured platform for wishlist management. A few features have been removed to focus only on the essential parts, but Floofi Shopping List should now be the best Wishing Star you could get.

Floofi Status Monitor

Our status page is one of the essential components in our infrastructure. Earlier this year, we rewrote the entire server code in Rust and migrated to Vercel, and later we also migrated to a binary data format.

This new version of the status page client is faster, better on mobile devices and more transparent. The server code also remains unchanged and is still the rock-solid base that powers our status monitoring since a few months.

Floofi Spatial Creator

Previously only a research project, Floofi Spatial Creator (formerly known as Surrounder) is now available for everyone and produces great results.

Floofi Spatial Creator is a small command-line utility that leverages machine learning technology to generate surround sound and even Dolby Atmos versions of any audio file you provide. In the future, we also intend to add ways to automate generation of a surround/Atmos version of songs and also support non-music applications such as movies and TV shows.

Floofi Repository Manager

Formerly "Autopush", Floofi Repository Manager (FRM) is the easiest way to batch manage Git repositories. It is still built on the same rock-solid base that we built when rewriting the Equestria.dev Power Tools to Rust (from JavaScript) and is blazing fast.

Functionally, Floofi Repository Manager remains unchanged and still works the way you would expect: it does one thing and does it well.

What's next?

For the end of the year, we have a few plans. Some cool ideas that we hope we will be able to release, and that we will definitely keep you updated on.

This section contains mention of prerelease software that is either in development or in discussion at the time of writing. Any mentions of features, logos or names are subject to change and provided for informational purposes only. All the projects mentioned here may be cancelled before release.

Floofi Open Analytics

Telemetry, statistics and analytics are the most important type of data a developer can have. Analytics can provide us with meaningful insights on which features to work on, what to improve and what to give up on. By adding analytics, you as a user will help make Floofi better for everyone and provide us with transparent feedback that doesn't affect your experience.

As always, this will all be done in compliance with our privacy policy. None of your personal data will be transmitted as part of analytics, not even your Floofi ID, and a unique ID is stored on your browser only to track activity patterns in a way that cannot be traced back to you.

Floofi Roleplay Assistant

To make games more fun, we are working on a Discord bot that can ease with management of role play characters. By making it easy to store and retrieve information about various characters on your Discord server, role playing with hundreds of different creatures will be just a breeze.

This project is a paid request and may be cancelled at the commissioner's demand. If such is the case, rest assured we will still make the source code publicly available.

If you want a Discord bot for plurality, consider PluralKit instead. Floofi Roleplay Assistant is not designed with plurality in mind.

Floofi ID v2

The current Floofi ID website uses JetBrains Hub, which is fairly heavy and provides a few features that we do not need.

We are considering building our own OAuth2-compatible authentication platform that will use the same Floofi User Experience design language to provide a more unified experience and ease the load on servers.

However, we are facing issues related to account transition and development costs, and this project may not come to life in the future.

Wrapping up

Thanks for sticking with us. We are very proud to introduce Floofi Systems to the public after months of quiet work, and we are thrilled at what is coming next.

If you would like to help us, feel free to use the contact form on our new website and we will see if we can do awesome things together.
